Key Takeaways
Ford is recalling 11,405 Ranger pickups after central displays were found to have cracked capacitors.
The faulty displays could lose power and disable rearview camera images, violating safety requirements.
Ford has received 15 related warranty claims, while a repair solution is still being developed.
Ford Motor Company (F - Free Report) is recalling 11,405 Ranger pickup trucks after discovering an issue that could cause the vehicles’ central display to lose power and disable the rearview camera image, per the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The problem has been linked to potentially counterfeit components supplied by a Chinese manufacturer.
According to the NHTSA, Ford traced the issue to defective central displays manufactured in China and installed in certain vehicles. The automaker’s internal review found cracked capacitors on the displays’ circuit boards, which were determined to contain potentially counterfeit components.
The loss of the rearview camera image could cause the affected vehicles to fall short of federal safety requirements for rear visibility, potentially increasing the risk of crashes, per the NHTSA.
Ford plans to notify owners about the potential safety risks by Oct. 5, 2026, although a repair solution is still under development. The company said it has not identified any accidents or injuries associated with the issue so far, but it has received 15 warranty claims that may be related to the condition.
Separately, Ford has temporarily halted production of its best-selling F-150 pickup at two assembly facilities because of a supplier-related issue, per the Detroit Free Press. Production at the Dearborn Truck Plant was suspended beginning Sept. 24, 2026, and is expected to remain paused through Sept. 30, 2026.
The Zacks Consensus Estimate for MBLY’s 2026 sales and earnings implies year-over-year growth of 5.6% and 36.1%, respectively. The EPS estimate for 2026 and 2027 has improved 3 cents each over the past 60 days.
